The 2008 Nebraska State Championship Finals have been awarded to OmahaBMX for a second year in a row. This year's event will be held on Sept. 5th, 6th and 7th, with 600 points up for grabs! Here is the schedule:

It looks like the weather will cooperate for this weekend, with windy, warm and sunny conditions to dry the track out today, and the next storm holding off until Saturday afternoon. We'll be at the track around 4 PM this afternoon to get the track ready for racing, and we can use all the help we can get.

Instead of canceling Friday's race, we have decided to move it to Sunday afternoon at 4 PM. Since nice days have seemed to miss our normal race nights, we need to take advantage of the nice days when they happen. And since StarCity is not racing Sunday afternoons any more, we may as well.

So, practice and registration is 4 to 5 PM, race time ASAP. This is "Friday Night's" race, so it is a trophy race, $10, but you can always race for $7 if you just want a sticker for your season plaque.

Florida AA Pro, Mike Kapes will be in town this week visiting friends, and he has offered to put on a clinic for OmahaBMX. This is a great opportunity for local riders to benefit from the experience of an up and coming AA pro. Mike was the top Super X professional in the NBL in 2007. He recently made the jump to 'Elite Men' (AA Pro) and he is sponsored by J&R Bicycles.

The clinic will be Wednesday, May 28th at 7 PM and will cover all aspects of BMX racing, from the basics, to training and diet. Cost for the clinic is $25 and you must be an ABA member to participate.

The first stop in the Nebraska State Championship Series with be held on Saturday, June 7th at OmahaBMX. This series of events will be run at the three tracks in Nebraska through July, with the finals being held in late August/early September at a track to be determined. Our event on June 7th will be a double district points race and entry fee will be $20. We drew almost 100 riders to our SCR last year and we are hoping to top that this year.

The Inaugural OmahaBMX Spring Fling is scheduled for Saturday May 3rd. Located at Omaha's Hefflinger Park at 112th and West Maple Road.

We will be out at the track Tuesday night at 6 PM for volunteer training, work on the track and gate practice - in that order.

If you are a track official or think you might want to be, please be there for training on new ABA rules for the 2008 season. This training will be lead by our new head track official, Tim Gilman.

We will also be offering training for anyone that might want to help out in registration. Pam will be training on the registration process and how to use the MotoMaker software.

Remember, opening night is Friday, April 4th. We hope that this training will make the start of our 2008 season smooth and a great experience with all of our new riders!
