Hi, Dave why do the riders have to pay to practice? Is it gate practice or is it normal practice. And what time will the track be open?

Mark. Tuesday nights are gate practice for ABA members only. There is a fee imposed by the ABA which covers the insurance. The cost of $3 which is pretty minimal is to cover this fee. If you are not a ABA member the track will be open to the public once weather and track conditions permit.

Dave, So is it $3 per person? So if my whole family wanted to go on Tuesday night only the riders have to pay? Or can my Mom & Dad just watch without paying?

The $3 fee is only for ABA members taking part in the practice. Everyone else is free.

Tuesday night practices, which start in May are official ABA practice nights. We have the gate equipment set up and the concession stand open. During these events and Friday night races, only open to ABA members that have registered are allowed on the track.

Having said that, the track is open to the public any time we are not holding an official event and the track is safe to ride on. If rain makes the track too muddy or damages it, it will be closed until it dries out or we fix the damage.

The track is open to the public during daylight hours when it is safe to ride on and we are not using it for a sanctioned American Bicycle Association event. Currently, our events are Friday and Tuesday nights.

“Safe to ride on” means not muddy and there is no damage to the track that could endanger anyone, such as large ruts due to rain run-off.
