Year End Awards handed out!
If you missed to trip to the zoo, you missed out on some fun! A good time was had by all who attended ..and some walked away with some honors. The auditorium was way cool with videos of the 2009 ABA Grands playing on a huge screen. Dave went over some highlights of the 2009 season and what is planned for the coming year. A track rebuild has been scheduled with ABA’s Hubert Jackson doing the honors. Hubert should in town the week of May 16th to give Omaha BMX a MAJOR overhaul. Another highlight was the fact that Omaha BMX averaged more riders per race that the national average. Also we will be participating in the ST. Patrick’s Day parade again this year! Overall the ceremony only lasted about 2 hours which gave everyone plenty of time to run around the zoo and see everything. Plans are already in the works for having it there again next year. Also some very cool embroidered OmahaBMX winter beanies were on hand and most of them were sold. If you missed your chance to get one don’t worry, pics and prices will be posted later for the remainder of the ones left as we only have a few. Anyways on with the award winners.
Rookie of the year honors went to Mark Eaton who tore up the novice ranks and held is own on the Intermediate level bringing home 3 Inter wins.
OmahaBMX’s girl rider went to Bronwyn Bostwick who did pretty well having to race the boys all the time!
OmahaBMX’s boy rider went to Philip “PG13″ Gilman. No surprise there as Philip was at nearly every race on 2 bikes. He even still found time to help out on the track when needed!
Volunteer of the year went to Gino & Sue Ormond, I think someone got paid under the table on this one. LOL!
Congrats to the winners, hope everyone had a great time!
